things that interest me are wide and varied. i work in many different ways in different medium. the unifying outcome is always spatial though. im most interested in sculpture. themes are often rendered tangible by the way i position the work.
I like travel and so this has become a central part to what i make, where traveling is part of the work and how it gets there or where work is made in a foreign climate.
Workshops extend this approach and so machines are constructed abroad and visually unpacked on my return and put together as either a book or a film.
Documentation becomes photograph, drawing, film, sculpture. All recording the process or the outcome or at times both.
I ORIGINALLY TRAINED AS AN ARCHITECT AND HAVE THE EXPERIENCE THAT BRINGS. THE CONSEQUENCE OF THIS EXPLAINS THE WAY I APPROACH THINGS SPATIALLY. EXAMPLES STRETCH FROM WEBSITES THAT USE ARCHIVED FILM OR BY WORKING WITH PHOTOGRAPHY.
I TEACH MA POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS AT THE BARTLETT, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON WHERE WE DEVELOP thesis PROJECTS interested IN THE VISUAL ARTS AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT.
MY OWN WORK AIMS TO CREATE NEW TACTILE EXPERIENCES THROUGH A COMBINATION OF ‘THE-HAND-MADE’ AND ‘THE-DIGITAL’, EMPLOYING CRAFT AS A WAY OF INITIATING THESE EXPERIENCES.
